Certificate II in Building and Construction (Wall and Floor Tiling)

The Certificate II in Building and Construction (Wall and Floor Tiling) is offered as a pre-apprenticeship to local students through the Building Structures and Services Department.

NMIT will give you the skills you need to enter the building industry as a wall and floor tiler. Tilers lay tiles on internal and external walls and floors to provide finishes that are protective or decorative, or both.

You will be employed by a wall and floor tiler and train:

* on-site with your employer
* off-site at NMIT

You will gain these skills and knowledge:

* measurements and calculations
* occupational health and safety
* wall and floor tiling
* scaffolding and levelling
* tiling substrates and adhesives
* using plant and power tools
* cleaning and polishing tiles
* preparing and applying grout
* concreting.
